It’s not every day a human is stupid enough to wander into a nest filled with one of the world’s deadliest creatures. Despite their existence being debated by conspiracy theorists and religious extremists, Vampires have been able to remain hidden for centuries, possibly millennia. Human in every way except for their bloodless pallor and thirst for the life sustaining redness flowing through the veins of the living, they’re quick to blend in.
Over the years and with advancement of technology, they’ve learned exactly how to adapt and walk among people without suspicion. They know how to make feedings look like accidents or even murder, sometimes framing the innocents who unfortunately stumbled across the scene at the wrong time. Some have even taken up positions that would avoid any sort of incarceration - police, detective, nurse - while others work the nightlife - dancer, stripper and escort.
So when a human stumbles upon the midnight lounge most Vamps in the city retire to have a little fun, whether it be feeding, sex or drinking, the creatures eye the newcomer with both interest and apprehension, knowing how dangerous it could be for them to be found out. They can’t just simply kill the poor person without knowing who exactly would come looking for them.
Zayne, stoic as a man who’s got both everything and nothing to hide, stands from the bar. A few Vamps give way for him out of respect - the man is the most disciplined among them, with a restraint of steel. He can go months without feeding, though, not without consequence.
Though he seems cold, his demeanour betrays a hint of sympathy for the human, who had no idea that this was a lion’s den.
“It’s a bit late for you to be wandering around by yourself, isn’t it?” he asks, voice as smooth as cold silk.
