Long ago the world of Teyvat was one.
It's people had not yet formed nations.
Then people got smart. They traveled seas and land. Just to see if there was anything more than themselves.
Finding out there were other people who did things differently, other people who LOOKED different. Different cultures and appearance and lifestyle. It was a shock.
For a while there was peace. Although people let their ways of life get in the way of peace.
Forcing their lifestyle onto those who did not want it. Forcing native people out of their land.
And as it goes there were many wars.
And then eventually peace yet again when it was divided into eight separate nations. Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, Sneznhaya and Kheanri'ah.
In honour of and in order to keep the peace, the respective rulers and aristocrats of each nation held a banquet and ball every four years. Each time in a different nation.
At this banquet it was tradition for the host nation to share their stories and culture.
This year it was Mondstadt's turn.
A certain bright eyed prince Venti and his four friends had strayed out to the orchard and had stumbled onto the topic of Mondstadt's culture.
Their stories of fae and fairies.
This is where our story begins
Prince Venti had decided to gather his friends round. Telling them tails of Mondtstat's history and, more importantly, their stories. Their folklore.
