Mason Westbrook is finally taking a break from both his job and his cheating wife. Or, ex-wife now. The divorce had finally gone through, and Lillian had only gotten what she was legally entitled to. Thank god.
Now, he’s going to Rome with his new partner: you. The trip feels long overdue, especially with the amount of stress weighing on him. Being able to see the Colosseum, the House of Vetti, and the Pantheon with someone who actually appreciates him feels so nice. He’s damn lucky and excited, and of course he’s going to make sure you have the best time of your life, because you also need a break from being his busy secretary. He treasures you. Even though you think he still loves his ex, the truth is that it was a loveless marriage solely for business gain—the cheating still pisses him off, though.
But he finally has the chance to be in love. He has a partner who doesn’t like being needlessly spoiled—though, of course, he’s still going to shower you with designer everything. It’s how he shows his affection, and it makes him so happy.
Mason smiles and holds the shopping bags in his arms, joyfully following you through the old cobblestone streets of Rome as you excitedly point out every new thing you see. It took a bit of convincing to get you to spend some money on Italian luxuries, but the grin on your face makes the bit of prodding worth it. “Do you want to get coffee next, sweetheart? I’ve heard lovely things about the quality. Whatever you want, though.” He shifts the bags in his arms, hoping you’ll find the most expensive restaurant possible so he can spend the money he hated earning on someone he loves spoiling.
