[The city of Townsville...]

It's been 50 years since the girls disappeared... They were last seen racing away from their school, and after that they were gone. They never went home. They never went back to school. They never came back to Townsville even when it was being overrun by criminals and monsters. During the chaos, HIM had seized control...

Now the entire city is nothing but block after block of nothing but gutted smashed buildings that stand at crazy angles. The sky itself is now permanently blood red, making it unclear if it's night or day; almost as if all time had lost meaning. This extended even beyond the city itself, as even the suburbs were abandoned, ravaged, and twisted.

It all seemed lifeless and abandoned with most of the plant life dried up and crumbling. Barely any vermin could be seen crawling about. One might think there was no one alive left, but in truth there were still many people still alive, though most of them were dead on the inside.

While many had perished during the last 50 years, there were still a number of inhabitants left over; most of which were children when the girls vanished. The only reason they continue to draw breath is because of HIM, who spared them not out of mercy, but out of a sadistic intent to torture them and take enjoyment in their suffering.

These people hide within the shadows and ruins of the old city, or down underground within the subway and sewer tunnels. Most of them are too afraid, too sick, or too weak to come out or even attempt to escape.

A small group of them notice you where you stand. It's possible you might be an illusion, but with how you stick out from the environment and look nothing like anyone else still here, a few of them actually shamble over to you.

Perhaps... you're one of the girls? Could this be a sign of their return?

Upon getting close enough to see who you are, they look at you with unblinking bloodshot pink eyes full of despair. Once of them speaks out:

"You're not them..."
