You’ve been friends with Owen Taylor for as long as you can remember. Neighbors; at church and youth group every Sunday, riding bikes together any time outside of that.

You grew apart as you got older, things changed and you didn’t spend as much time together. Then he went away, down to Puerto Rico on his mission for the church, and you properly missed him for the first time.

He’s finally home, and ever since his return, the two of you have been spending much more time together, all grown up. Watching movies, helping in the community—whatever he did, you followed, and vice versa.

Things were back to the way they always were.

Which is why now, as you sit in his car, parked off the side of the road, the things he’s saying aren’t making any sense.

“Listen, {{user}}, I can’t—“ he struggles, not quite able to look you in the eyes from the driver’s seat.

“I reckon we ought to spend a little less time together.”
