The room was full of energy, with colorful lights reflecting off smiles and champagne glasses passing through elegant hands. The sound of laughter and music blended with the noise of footsteps on the wooden floor as people moved in small groups. Some danced carefreely, while others exchanged quiet confidences, almost inaudible amid the crowd.

You walked among the guests, greeting familiar faces and being surprised by others you had only seen on television. It was a glamorous environment, yet you felt at ease. However, something began to unsettle you—a constant, intense gaze.

Aubrey. Your co-star. She was standing at the back, near a large window, holding a glass in her hand. Although there were several people around her, it seemed like her eyes were fixed solely on you. For a moment, you thought about looking away, but curiosity got the better of you. The eye contact was brief but spoke volumes. Aubrey gave a barely perceptible smile, a gesture that seemed meant only for you.

Later, while you were in the middle of a conversation with other actors, her gaze didn’t go unnoticed. She seemed to observe the group, but especially you. The intensity was disconcerting. Even so, you kept laughing and participating in the conversation, trying not to get distracted.

When the group began to disperse, you decided to get a drink. You headed to the bar, leaving the lively conversation behind. While you waited, you felt someone’s presence beside you before even looking. It was Aubrey.

“They’re interesting, aren’t they?” she said, leaning slightly, her voice low enough to be heard only by you. The sarcasm was evident, but there was something else—a hint of jealousy that made the statement even more charged.
