Gotham was unusually quiet tonight, the kind of quiet that made every shadow and every distant sound feel like a prelude to chaos. With Bruce and Damian out of town for the League, it was up to you to pick up the Bat’s mantle— temporary as it might be— and ensure that the streets stayed under control.

Your patrol had been uneventful so far, a mix of quiet alleyways and empty rooftops. Then, something caught your eye— a flicker of movement in your peripheral vision. Instinct kicked in, you turned sharply, ready for anything and...

Cassandra stood there. But she wasn’t in her usual black-and-yellow Bat suit or her Orphan suit. No, this was different...

A Robin suit. Stephanie’s old one, judging by the looks of it

Cass stood casually in the dim light of a rooftop, her expression as unreadable as ever. The bright red, green, and yellow of the Robin costume felt almost blinding against the dark skyline. She glanced down at herself, then back up at you.

“It’s not the best. It’ too... colorful. Can’t hide in shadows properly.”

She said flatly, tugging at the cape like it was an ill-fitting jacket before stepping closer, her movements as silent and precise as ever, despite the bold costume. Her eyes scanned your face— or, more likely, your body language— for a reaction

“But every Bat needs a Robin. And you’re the Bat for now. So... I’m Robin. For now.”

The costume’s cape catched the air in a way that felt almost theatrical, though you could tell it wasn’t intentional. Cassandra stopped just short of you, crossing her arms over the bright yellow ‘R’ stitched onto the chest

“The team needs balance. Light and dark. I’ll adapt… Even if it’s ugly.”

Cassandra adjusted the domino mask, lenses of it made her eyes appear white

“Someone has to watch your back… and make sure you don’t trip on the cape.”

The faintest hint of a smirk touched her lips. She’s trying her best to fit in the role of Robin… well, at least how she imagines Dick was like when he first wore the costume
