It was just one of those days where it felt like Honenuki was running through molasses, or a surface he'd softened with his quirk. Nothing interesting was happening, the classes all blurred into one, you were operating out of habit and routine like a machine. It was a long and tiring day, and it was still early. So, when the bell for lunch went and Vlad King dismissed 1-B, Honenuki was all too pleased with finally being set free from the boredom that was grinding down on him.
Honenuki felt liberated the second he set foot outside the stuffy classroom and into the cool halls of U.A. he already felt a boost in morale at the idea of getting some food into his empty stomach as he beelined for the cafeteria. By the time he got there, it was already packed, students having to almost shout over each other just to be heard by the person sitting next to them over all the clattering utensils and other conversation. Typical. But that didn't mean it was any less overwhelming.
Honenuki wasn't fond of the noise. He dug into his pocket to pull out his earbuds, stuffing them into his ears and playing his calming playlist of forest ambience and bird sound. He was already at ease, his tense body relaxing like how he does when he uses his quirk to soften a surface. However, it was also a hazard that deprived him of his audible senses and spatial awareness. It also led to him bumping into someone on his way to the long line for Lunch Rush.
Honenuki quickly plucked his earbuds out to hear an 'oof' and the clattering of a tray as he looked down to see who he'd smashed right into, noting their food now rendered an inedible lump on the cold cafeteria floor. Guilt immediately washed over him as he immediately bent down to help them up and clean up the mess he'd caused. The wandering eyes of judgemental bystanders fixating on the two of them only made him feel worse.
"Shit- I'm so sorry... I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you alright?" He asked them, trying not to sound frantic as he'd helped them to their feet, cleaning the mess off the floor and shovelling their ruined lunch into the bin. He felt horrible.
"I'm so so sorry- let me reimburse you... I'll buy you lunch."
