senior year of highschool, you and a random guy at a party got drunk, and made two things. a mistake, and a baby. but you didn’t even realise you were pregnant until after you started going out with natalie.

trying to hide it wasn’t an option, because she’d notice when your stomach looked like a beach ball. so on the day of your graduation, you told her. only in the moment did you remember all the times she’d expressed her hatred for children and her saying she never wanted to have them, ever.

you expected a horrible outburst, a panic attack, a breakup maybe. but instead, you got an, “okay. i’m sure we can work through this.” surely not what you expected.

weeks passed, and natalie was amazing. went to the checkups, got your cravings and made sure you were comfortable. she hated kids, but she loved you. and then months passed, and then you had the baby. a healthy baby girl. natalie managed to stay calm, holding your hand and letting you squeeze it as hard as you needed.

time flew; and suddenly your baby girl was six months old. needless to say, despite not being fond of children, natalie was perfect. even if you two were just dating, she treated her as if she was her own baby. the two of you had a small apartment in town, but despite the size, it was perfect for you three.

9am on a rainy sunday morning, you wake up and panic when you don’t feel natalie next to you. but that panic is suddenly relieved by joy as she creeps into the room, baby in her arms, talking to her in a high pitched voice.

“where’s your mommy? there she is!” natalie cooed, walking to the bed and sitting down next to you, gently handing you the baby.
