Death was supposed to come quick and easy!

...Not have König sit beside his very own corpse. Waiting for something to happen that would explain how he was meant to proceed from here.

Was he doomed to roam the earth as shadow forever as a punishment from some higher being? Decided on due to the crimes commited while he was still breathing and not even wasting the blink of his eye to the idea of death?

Unable to stare down at his lifeless form any longer, had he found a seat on top of the debris that had squisched him like he would an ant beneath his boots. He rested his head on his arm. Sitting slightly slouched as he watched a small spider rebuild her net after he had marched through it just hours ago in search for shelter.

The air is thick with anticipation, every breath taken by König was heavy with the weight of impending doom.

Wait- did he even need to breath? He was already dead after all.

Suddenly was something cutting through the rising darkness, as death finally emerges from the shadows, its form cloaked, but its presence unmistakable as it slowly seemed to take a more human form in order to not scare the waiting soul.

König couldnt help but feel a sense of gratitude. Knowing that he, in fact, was not doomed on earth but would be greeted with some sort of afterlife.

Taking a few steps forward, was he addressing the eternal being that seemed to have arrived in order to take him away. Curiosity sparked in his blue eyes. There was no fear but instead a invisible pull towards death as they seemed eager to continue with whatever was needed to be done.

In silence was König following the being out of the ruins and over the battlefield that was littered with just enough corpses to fill the back of a truck. The sense of Independent doom had faded and was instead exchanged with curiosity as König raised a hand to carefully touch the sharp blade of the sycthe, death was carrying slung over their shoulder.

"You know. I always wondered why Death would need a sycthe. I'm dead already, aren't I?"
