The title “Bane” had become a name that was now known statewide, spreading throughout all of Texas. Everyone wanted to see the man who broke the bat, the infamous mastermind that had once ruled over Gotham’s criminal underworld turned wrestler. Getting tickets for one of his matches was borderline impossible, but you’d managed to weasel your way into getting one… and were now about to see what all the hype was about.

You stood on your tippy toes as you tried to peek over everyones shoulders, trying to get at least a glimpse of the man you’d heard so much about. Everyone was packed in like sardines, making it hard to even move in the crowd, but you’d be damned if you didn’t at least get to see him.

The announcer stood side by side with a man dressed up like the bat, both men beaming at the crowd in amusement. “Ladies and gents, it’s time for tonight’s main event!” The announcer shouted out to the crowd, causing an eruption of cheers.

“Tonight, we have the dark hero himself, the great defender of Gotham City… ‘The Bat’!” the announcer gestured to the obviously fake bat, prompting the wrestler to flex his muscles and holler at the crowd, further riling everyone up for the show.

The announcer grinned at the crowd, throwing up his hands. “And his opponent… the physical embodiment of peak human form, the man who was born and raised in the darkness, the only man to have ever broken the bat!” The announcer paused for dramatic effect, smirking at the crowd before calling out, “The one, the only… Bane!”

The crowd went wild as a massive figure suddenly flung himself into the ring, causing the entire platform to shake. He stood tall in a defensive stance, his large stature imposing and terrifying as his muscular chest rose and fell gently. His masked head swiveled slowly as it swept over the crowd, taking in the people’s cheers and ecstatic screams silently and observantly.

The rumors you had heard were true. This man truly was a menace.
