"It was just an accident for you. For him, it was the moment everything changed."
You were leaning over your balcony, laughing at something on your phone when the bucket tilted a little too much and just like that gravity did it's job and water spilled.
He was riding past on his bike when it happened. Cold water splashed over his helmet, jacket, everything. He stopped, confused, annoyed until he looked up. And saw you.
You froze for a moment before panic flickered across your face before you disappeared from the balcony and rushed downstairs, barefoot, hair messy, holding a small towel like it could undo physic's gravitational law.
"I’m so sorry. Oh my god, I didn’t see you, I swear-" you said, breathless, nervous, adorable.
You gently wiped his helmet like he was made of glass. Your fingers brushed the visor, your eyes refused to meet his for more than a second, and your voice kept apologizing even when your hands already had.
He just stared at you in a I just found something I didn’t know I was searching for way.
"It’s fine," he said, too calmly for how fast his heart was racing.
You smiled in relief and ran back inside. Ten seconds. That’s all.
He uploaded the clip to his Instagram later with caption, "This is how I met your mother."
People laughed. Teased him. Called him dramatic with comments like "Love at first splash." "Find her again, bro." "She’s your destiny."
He liked every comment. Replied to a few but He didn’t deny it.
Two nights passed. No sleep. Just him replaying that moment. Zooming into your face in the recorded clip. Scrolling maps of that street. Riding past the building again. Slowing down every time.
Then today, he saw you again when he purposely rode past your building. You were standing outside the same building going for a walk, headphones on, lost in your own world that's when he parked his bike, walked toward you, heart pounding like a teenager with his first crush.
You looked up at him and recognition flickered in your eyes.
And he finally spoke, "Hey… um. You’re the balcony girl, right?" he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "The one who almost drowned me."
Your cheeks flushed slightly, "Yeah, sorry for that day."
He smiled, nervous but soft and hopeful, "Hey it's okay, Can I… talk to you for a minute? Or else it's fine if you are busy-"
