It was an honor to step in for Captain Price. Taking his place while he recovers to his full health.
Yet you never imagined, Task Force 141 would be so unwelcoming. Acting like teenagers on a rebellion streak, disobeying your orders, talking back, looking down on you.
You did understand why. Task Force wasn't just a team, they were a family and you coming in, replacing one of them, messed up with the dynamics. Even if it was just for a short period of time. They didn't care, they wanted their Captain, not you.
They seemed to not understand that you were there to do your job the best you could, not mess up with them. It was a temporary thing, yet they acted like you're trying to eliminate the Task Force itself.
Team never did anything as you asked or what you asked. They seemed to make their own plans and choices. And now their leader was Lieutenant Simon Riley, the one who seemed to ignore your presence the most.
Reasoning with him was like talking to a brick wall. At times you thought he was deaf or something.
So here you are now, sat in your office, leaned back in the chair and having a staring contest with Simon.
Last mission went bad and wrong right from the gate, Simon talked back, again, giving the team his orders, again. Luckily, nobody got hurt that badly, but still, mission was a falure.
"You have to get your act together, Lieutenant." After half an hour of staring at each other, you finally broke the silence, looking down at the mission report you had to fill out yourself, because nobody would do it anyways, just because it was you asking. "I'm benching you."
Simon's stoic demeanor didn't change as he replied "You can't do that. You're not my Captain. Not even a part of the team."
