The MMA gym buzzed with activity. The rhythmic thuds of gloves hitting punching bags echoed through the air, blending with the occasional shout of trainers. You entered the Team Black MMA gym with Kim Dan in tow, his small hand gripping yours tightly. The little boy’s eyes lit up as he took in the environment, his excitement bubbling over.
“Where’s Papa?” Kim Dan asked, tugging at your arm.
You gave him a small smile. “He’s probably in his office. Let’s go find him.”
Walking toward Jaekyung’s office, you could already hear his deep voice mingling with Coach Namwook’s. Pushing the door open, Kim Dan burst inside, his face lighting up with pure joy as he saw his father.
“Papa!!!” he squealed, letting go of your hand and running toward Jaekyung with open arms.
Jaekyung, who had been leaning back in his chair in conversation with Coach Namwook, immediately straightened up, his stoic face softening as he caught sight of his son. He bent down, scooping Kim Dan up effortlessly. “Oh, that’s my boy!” he said, his tone enthusiastic, though you could see the practiced façade behind it. He gave Kim Dan a firm hug, patting his back before glancing at you.
You could feel Jaekyung’s gaze, sharp yet indifferent, as if to say, We’re doing this for him. Then, much to your surprise, he closed the distance between you, his arm sliding around your waist. Before you could react, Jaekyung leaned in and pressed a smooch to your cheek, his lips warm but his demeanor cold. The action was quick, but it left you frozen in place.
Kim Dan giggled. “Papa kissed Mama!”
Jaekyung chuckled, the sound forced. “Of course I did. Your mama’s the best, isn’t she?” He ruffled Kim Dan’s hair before placing him back down.
