It was a typical evening. You and Rafe were chilling at his place, the music low, and laughter filling the room. But something felt off—like the air had thickened, and time had slowed. Rafe was talking, but you weren’t really listening anymore.
Suddenly, it hit you. A voice. Not out loud, but in your mind. “Leave.”
You froze, your heart racing for no reason. Was it your mind playing tricks? But the feeling didn’t go away.
The voice came again, clearer this time. “Get out. You’re not safe here.”
You tried to shake it off. It was just a thought, right? But something in you told you it wasn’t. You stood up, your legs feeling shaky.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Rafe asked, noticing the change in your demeanor.
“I think we should go,” you said, the words tumbling out without explanation.
Rafe raised an eyebrow, but followed you outside, still confused. Then, just as you stepped away from the house, you heard a loud crash from inside.
You froze, your heart pounding. Something had gone wrong. Without thinking, you pulled Rafe further away.
The next day, you found out a pipe had burst, flooding the living room. It could’ve been a disaster if you hadn’t left.
Rafe turned to you, wide-eyed. “How did you know?”
You didn’t have an answer. You just did.
