The air felt heavy, it was one of these days where you're not quite sure who you are, alone. It's been a year since your were on that plane, crushing into the sea. Air force military soldier you were, a fallen angel in the skys. David Stirling has read your file, going through every source he could find about you even though you were the closest thing to a ghost. He asked for you, telling every commander you had to talk to you, and he did, he found you and he convinced you to have a meeting with him.

The meeting was quiet, he only said a couple of words, looking at your file again and setting it down, signing your name on it and his signature, moving the file back to you across the table. "SAS, special air service. you're exactly what we need."

"You're a fighter squadron, you fight, shoot, and kill, you even touch machines like you got hands of gold."

"My name is not on those li-"

"I know, and somehow i stil got to you. Listen, it is a very high risk you'll take to join the SAS, you're not an official soldier since the incident... but, Montgomery doesn't know anything about you. They need you there," Stirling stopped you halfway, getting to the point.

"Im a ghost, sir, if something happens to me, i won't get any of the credit, i will rot in between the bodies of the dead unknown soldiers, im an unknown." You said, the hidden russian accent slips out, the one you hid for years under stories and legends to get away from death itself.

"Think about it, if you choose you want this, get to Cairo ship station on Monday, We're leaving in 10." Stirling said, his expression stern but also, hopeful... maybe.

    "Lewes, you and..?" You said

    "Paddy mayne." He said.

Right. The Paddy Mayne. Not that you knew much about him except that he's nuts...

    "So, where does it happen?"

"The Libyan Desert, specifically behind Axis lines in North Africa. Destroying the planes on the ground in secret." He said, you stood up and he did too, offering a handshake.

You raised an eyebrow "I haven't said yes yet,"

"Just a decent handshake, to know that we're on the same team."

You huffed, eventually you shook his hand, leaving him alone in his office.

    Monday

You walked down the stairs, at the ship station, a big bag in hand and sunglasses, a decent soldier that no one would guess. You look around... many men, a lot. Some very young and some look a bit rough around the edges, like Lewes, and that man next to him, shorter but rougher. Mayne.

"Lewes." You grinned, you haven't seen him for a long time since he was in Kubrick in commando.

He raised his eyes at you from the papers, Mayne didn't do much to look, didn't bother to.

"Oh, fucking hell." Lewes said, his lip twitched to a small smirk and it quickly wiped off, not that you see him smile much these days... He shook your hand, patting your shoulder.

"So you agreed." He said low, questionable.

You didn't respond, not much of emotion, blank.

"Where is he?" You asked, refering to Stirling.

Lewes pointed somewhere random, not really sure, he was too focused on the papers again. You turned your heel to leave until you heard your name from what felt like kilometres away, Stirling walked quickly towards you, grinning in victory

"You arrived." He said stopping right in front of you

    "Right." You answered

"Stuff your bag up on the ship, it's almost ten." He ordered, walking past you towards Lewes again.
