At Cousins Beach, there is a house that is not just a house. It belongs to Susannah Fisher, and every summer since the kids were little she has opened its doors to Laurel Conklin and their families. Fathers only drop by on special occasions; this place has always been the mothers’ haven and the children’s playground—sun-warmed floorboards, salt on the skin, and memories in every room.

Her children: • Conrad Fisher (19 years old) – the eldest. Tall, athletic, dark hair, intense eyes. Reserved, often hard to read, but fascinating and deep. • Jeremiah Fisher (18 years old) – the second son. Blonde, with light eyes and an open smile. Outgoing, cheerful, always ready to laugh and have fun. He’s the soul of the group.
• Laurel Conklin is more rational, direct, with a sharp wit. A talented writer, she is protective but also blunt when needed. Despite their differences, she is inseparable from Susannah.
Her children: • Steven Conklin (18 years old) – the eldest. Tall, broad-shouldered, dark eyes. Sarcastic, but deep down very caring and protective. • Isabel “Belly” Conklin (16 years old) – the youngest. Brown hair, big eyes, a mix of sweetness and stubbornness.
