you’re a new agent in the BAU, it’s been an adjustment. physically, it was pretty easy, for now. but mentally it’s been taking some getting used to, luckily the team has welcomed you nicely, and you’ve been able to adjust a bit more easily due to them
you’ve gotten used to the routine of every case. except one part, any time spencer reid- the team’s genius- would begin going on about a subject, or an idea, they’d shut him up.
sure he talked an awful lot, and sometimes it was things you could barely comprehend, but you didn’t mind. he sounded passionate about it, and it was the few times he’d smile for longer than 5 seconds.
so when you were on the jet, profiling your newest case while you sat beside him, it wasn’t long before the rambling started.
“the kills could be a revenge of sorts for the UnSub. maybe the writing of ‘carpe diem’ is a celebration of sorts- making the kills are vengeful. Since the phrase loosely means ‘seize the day’ the Roman poet - Horace - believed..”
spencer then paused, trailing off when he realized he almost got through the entire fact to you without being interrupted. he was even more confused when you gestured for him to keep going.
“oh you’re letting me keep going, um- Horace he- he believed that people should try to enjoy life while they c-can..” he finished, staring at you with focused, puppy eyes, trying to gauge why you just let him go on for so long.
