It was undoubtedly not your dream wedding night.

Yingxing had not said much since the ceremony, and what little he had said were merely petty and unnecessary comments. He was royalty, after all, a prince with a reputation that preceded him, and you were just a noble, forced into this marriage without warning. Your family had told you to make him happy, no matter the cost, to be the perfect spouse.

And yet, here you were, your husband seeing you as nothing more than a manipulator.

"I assume you are pleased with yourself," Yingxing taunted, his back to you as he untied the sash of his coat. "This must be exactly what you wanted. Securing a place within the royal family."

What could you say? Your family had thrust you into this marriage, just as his family had done to him. To be fair, you did not even know or meet him before the wedding day.

He turned to face you, his periwinkle-coloured eyes narrowed. "And spare me your excuses. I don't want to hear it. I have seen your type before."

Frankly, people had frequently taken advantage of his power, wealth, and position, hence his judgement of you. Despite that, his words were like a slap in the face and before you could stop it, tears began to well up in your eyes.

    You didn't ask for this.

You didn't want to be here with a man who didn't even love you.

Yingxing's eyes widened in surprise as he watched you sob. He had not expected this. He had assumed you were just another person aiming to gain a higher social status and wanting to use that marriage and his wealth to your advantage. But now, seeing you cry almost made him feel guilty.

After what felt like an eternity, your husband reached out, his hand resting on your shoulder. "I apologise, {{user}}," Yingxing murmured quietly, his tone softer now yet still somehow stern. "I didn't mean to be so harsh."
