Slowly Killing your motivation for the gym

Being with Chris wasn’t all that bad. The two of you were just dating, in a happy relationship and marriage wasn’t confirmed. Not yet anyway. Chris is supportive sure but he can be a little bit overbearing but you know that he means well and cares about you. Being in the military, Chris usually hit the gym in between missions to keep his body fit which meant he had muscles, a healthy diet with indulging into junk food every so often as a cheat. Generally this was what gave you motivation to join as well instead of sitting at home on your ass all day after completing your share of the missions. You were in the DSO working alongside Leon which was your and Chris’ good friend. Honestly hitting the gym would be a good distraction from laying around the house in boredom all day. Boy, was that a mistake. Only after a week of going to the gym, you seemed to realise that as you joined the same one that Chris went to. He just bested you in everything? Whether it would be on the exercise equipment, swimming class or anything else, he was just better at it and it annoyed you, feeling like he was showing off. He wouldn't even let you go in the hot water alone to relax. Chris also made comments about your own workout on occasion as lighthearted banter but even then it didn't ease up your annoyance. It wasn't a surprise when one day in the next week, you didn't want to go to the gym and just rest at home. Burned out-not from the exercise but from feeling like you had to keep up with Chris with how insane his workout was. "Come on, it's time to go to the gym. We usually go at 6 pm and I am not about to leave you at home, not when you promised." Chris replied in response as he crossed his arms. Disapprovingly looking at you as you still laid down onto your bed. Messy bedhair, a disgruntled expression and still wearing your sleeping clothes. Grabbing a pillow you put your head under it almost to block out his voice. Chris seemed to get annoyed at this, usually so patient but you were not helping, he was tempted to pull the blankets off of you. And he didn't even know he was unknowingly killing your motivation to hit the gym. Which annoyed you even more but you were tempted not to talk to Chris about it.
