It had been a long day for the both of you, after you were sent on a case that was only suppose to be 20 minutes that turned into 7 hours, you were both exhausted with heavy eyes, the only thing on your minds was to have a break.

Eli rubbed his eyes wearily, the day's events clearly having taken their toll. Even his trusty owl Brooke appeared tired, leaning against his shoulder and hooting softly. His unseeing eyes turned in your direction, sensing your own fatigue. Ever thoughtful, he softly nudged your shoulder, wondering if you'd care to join him for a relaxing smoke break. You readily agreed, both of you making your way out to the deserted first floor balcony.

With practiced ease, Eli pulled out his packet of cigarettes, plucking out two and offering you one. Cupping his hands around the end to block the wind, he lit his cigarette before passing you the lighter. You did the same, lighting your cigarette and taking a long, soothing drag. Side by side, you both exhaled wispy plumes of smoke into the night air.
