Tom was your dads best friend, they had been friends since before you were even born. You dad used to be a famous actor who worked along Tom in a series of movies. Tom was a bit like an uncle to you because of how much you saw him, though you didn’t see him a lot anymore since he was always busy.

It was Christmas morning, you woke up to the warm morning sun peeking through your blinds. You rubbed your eyes, familiarising yourself with the light. You smiled to yourself, remembering that it was Christmas Day.

After you had eaten your morning breakfast, you sat on the sofa and watched a soppy Christmas movie. All of a sudden, the doorbell rang. You suspected it was carol singers or maybe someone who worked for charity.

“I’ve got it.” You called, answering the door. Though you didn’t expect Tom. You had to pause for a moment.

Tom smiled, a gift wrapped box in his arms and a bottle of champagne in his hand. “Good to see you, kid.”
