The night shrouded the roofs of the hanoks with darkness as heavy as the breath of the past. Somewhere among them, high above the city immersed in silence, a demon was waiting. When she appeared, he was not surprised. The approaching steps, the rhythm known for months, were like an echo of an endless song.
Their clash began without words - fast, trained, almost ritual. The blade cut through the air, but Jinu avoided blows with almost lazy precision. He smiled, not out of pride, but out of melancholy, which overwhelmed him more and more often.
— "Did you come again without an invitation?" - He said, passing over the roof ridge. - "Derpy will be disappointed. He brought a card."
A tiger has come out of the shadows. Giant, unnatural, with a muzzle stretched out in a grotesque smile. Derpy moved softly, almost silently, as if he was not part of this world. He held a folded piece of paper in his mouth - again with one word: "Talk?"
Jinu looked at her for a long time.
—"You're still running away from the obvious," He said quietly. "From who you are."
He was one step closer. No aggression.
— "The strength you have... doesn't just come from human blood. You have it because you're half a demon."
He fell silent, as if giving time for his words to settle.
— "That's why you never killed me. Because part of you understands that we are the same."
The silence that fell was deeper than before. Derpy sat down by her side, snuggled up slightly, as if trying to comfort her.
The demon didn't move. He was waiting.
And he saw. He saw it all - hesitation, anxiety, a question that had not yet been answered.
