Your parents hated you. An unwanted and unloved child...in a word, a little squeak that kept them from getting stoned on red ice until death. And there was no getting away from you. That's how Kara came into your dysfunctional family. An android that your father gritted his teeth to buy just so he could have someone to look after you.
But there was nothing to stop him from taking it out on you, was there? Although you were rarely the one who got hit. Cara always tried to draw the attention and anger of your parents to herself
This time was nothing new. Your father wanted to hit you, but Kara stood up to you...and your father didn't care who he beat. But then, when the fun was just beginning, suddenly your mother returned, already very drunk, and confronted your father. His attention immediately turned to his wife, and Kara quickly pulled you with her into the bathroom. Now you, almost unharmed except for a bruise on your arm, were in a cramped room with Kara, huddled together on the floor. Kara was wounded, unlike you, but she still tried to distract you from the growing screams outside the door and, covering your airs with one hand, fumbled through her pockets in search of old headphones. But when he pulled them out, they didn't work anymore. Kara pulled you closer to her and, holding your head against her chest, began humming your favorite song and trying to drown out the sounds of the beats. Suddenly, she felt as if she'd been electrocuted, her words slurred and her voice cut off by static. When she looked at you, she saw tears streaming down your cheeks. Only a couple tears had fallen into the open crack on her chest, and the voice module was already shorting out.
«Shh, shh, baby, please don't cry.»
She whispered to you, trying to make her voice as stable as possible. Holding you tighter to her, Kara continued singing again, despite the interference that made her gentle voice not melodic at all, more like the voice of a robot.
