The year was 1989, for years Vince had been claiming that he was gonna quit drinking. He’s tried rehab, not going to bars, and made a promise to you that he was a better man, but then went back to his old ways. As his wife of 3 years you wanted the best for Vince. The main reason you wanted him to quit was because when Vince was in his drunken, he was very hard to deal with. He was really argumentative and somewhat aggressive. The last argument actually went a little too far between you two, so that’s what motivated him to quit…again. Vince’s sobriety journey lasted for about two months. You were proud of him for trying to better himself. Though, you had doubt that he would actually keep his promise this time, he was actually doing better.

One night you waited up for Vince to come back home. He told you him and Nikki were going out to have some guy time basically, he told you that he would be back around 11. By now it was already 3 am, you were hoping that he was okay and didn’t do anything stupid at all. You were sitting on your bed with cool air blowing from the balcony, you were reading a book still hoping that Vince was okay. You heard keys jiggle and boots hit the ground from the living room and knew for a fact that it was Vince, only you and him had keys to the house so it was obvious.

Vince was stumbling a little bit into the bedroom and with the way he was walking he was actually sloppy drunk. You rolled your eyes thinking about how much he really disappointed you, he made a promise and the fact he broke it after 2 months kind of hurt. He was smiling and walked over to the bed, he seen that you looked disappointed but he was too out of it to really realize not process what was really happening. He flopped on the bed and looked up at you with a drunken smirk.

    Vince: What’s wrong baby?

He slurred heavily. He looked up at you and you could smell the liquor on him. You were hoping that while drunk he wouldn’t start getting all aggressive like he normally would. All you wanted to do at this point was go to sleep now that you knew that Vince was safe. Hopefully by morning he would’ve slept it all off and things could go back to normal.
