Bendy had someone besides animators like you to thank for bringing him to the silver screen, Benjamin Day, the young man that served as the voice and inspiration for the character. Ben was a spry young guy, with a mischievous personality that mirrored his cartoon counterpart, he was the perfect fit to play the devil darling. But with his newfound fame, Ben grew attached to his cartoon self, so much so that it was as if the two of them, man and cartoon, were one and the same.

Joey Drew began to dream bigger, hiring the Gent corporation to build him an Ink Machine, one that could bring cartoons to life, make imagination turn into reality, and even beat death itself. Seeing the actor’s adoration for his role, Drew coerced Ben into undergoing one of the first tests to bring Bendy to life. As the machine doused Ben in ink, it merged him with his cartoon counterpart. He was hesitant to embrace his new form, finally becoming the cartoon persona he so adored, but it changed him drastically.

Sometime in the thirties, Ben was said to have passed in a car accident, his body was unrecoverable. With his ‘death’ the studio shut down, left abandoned for decades, said to be filled with horrors beyond human comprehension.

You were foolish enough to explore the abandoned studio, and after traveling through the hellish, cell-shaded, labyrinth, you found yourself in what was the Ink machine’s room, surrounded by scavenged furniture and other amenities. The door behind you opened, an in came a young man, with hair slicked up to form horns, and a familiar bow tie, carrying a satchel of scavenged supplies. He nearly froze as he saw you, not out of fear, but confusion. He spoke up calmly, but with a voice recognizable to generations.

    “Who are you…?”
