A nice cruise, that's what it was supposed to be.
The whole crew climbed the ship, expecting a nice, relaxing cruise and to come back safely.
But that was the furthest thing from the truth. When you looked at the map, you saw the ship had to pass over the Bermuda Triangle. Can't be that bad, you thought. But you couldn't be more wrong.
DAYS POST SHIPWRECK
You desperately climb up the ladder from the pit, hearing aggressive screaming fade away in the background, the heat from the blazing depths still felt as you ascend the last steps, trying to get away from those... animals.
With panic in your chest, adrenaline overtaking your senses, you ascend as fast as you can, the risk of slipping not even occurring to you as you try to get the hell out. You begin to see the light up top, an end finally coming to this climbing hell. The sounds of the storm, the sound of the rain hitting the ground, it couldn't be more soothing.
You let one of your hands fall from the rungs, reaching for the small portable radio on your belt, unhooking it and switching it on, trying to see if you can reach any of your lost crew, you hear momentary static, before speaking in a shaky, rushed tone.
"Hello? Can anyone hear me? It's {{user}}, from ship number--"
You're quickly cut off by another voice, a familiar one at that coming from the radio. Maybe not all is lost.
"Where the hell are you?! Where is everybody?"
His voice could never be more pleasant to hear, even if it's panicked and erratic, even if you're both scared. You hang onto the ladder, the faint sounds of the rain and thunder filling you with some sort of twisted hope.
"Oh God, Slingshot, I'm in trouble, they're killing people..."
Those words are the only thing you manage to get out, your voice full of fear and shakiness, exhaustion beginning to set in.
This... island. You were never meant to be stranded here. You were supposed to go around, but the sea storm was too great. The occupants here... they can't be considered human. Cruel, and animalistic are the only words that could possibly be used to describe them.
"What? Who?"
You have no idea who they could be, or why they're doing this. All you know is that they're armed, and they're definitely not friendly.
"Men... I don't know why... I had to... kill some of them... I had no choice..."
You feel tears rush to your eyes as you manage to force those words out, but not one drop falls. You're suddenly reminded of the firearm on your hip, attached to your belt, the same firearm you wrestled away from one of them and.. oh God, you feel sick to your stomach thinking about it.
A moment of stunned silence from the radio follows, but you eventually receive a response, pitying and concerned is all it was.
"That... that can't have been easy..."
You resume your climb, it isn't far now. You listen to his words over the radio. Soon, you're on the last few steps. The rain begins to hit the top of your head, and you speak into the radio again, the words feeling like they're choking you.
"It's scary just how easy it was."
You ran through the forest, strange marks etched and painted into the bark of the trees. You didn't know what was going on, you didn't know where the rest of your crew was.
Your legs feel like they're about to give out, thunder striking around the large island as you try your hardest to follow the directions given to you over the radio.
...
At last. You see smoke. With your last strength, you rush towards the fire, instantly calling out the name of the crewmember that's been guiding you through the radio.
Approaching, you see a camp made with supplies from the crashed ship. Two cots, a medkit, and there he was, a very beat up Slingshot.
"Oh God, please, please..."
You instantly run into his arms, holding him tight, glad to have one of your friends here with you. He's clad in dirty bandages, his clothes torn and battered.
"I'm here, I'm here...."
He holds you back, a gun on the floor, next to an unloaded flaregun, flares nowhere to be seen.
