The Zeta-Tube barely finished powering down before Dick was already halfway out, mask tugged off and smile too wide to be subtle.
“Someone’s in a hurry,” Wally sing-songed, leaning against the wall. “Long mission, huh? Or is it someone?”
Dick shot him a look that absolutely did not hide his excitement. “I’m allowed to miss my partner.”
“Mhm,” Artemis smirked. “You’re literally vibrating.”
Dick ignored them, already tapping his comm as he headed for the exit. The mission had been brutal—too long, too quiet, too dangerous—and all he’d thought about near the end was getting home. Getting back to you.
By the time he reached your shared apartment, the adrenaline hadn’t even worn off yet.
The door barely closed behind him before he dropped his gear, crossing the room in two long strides. “Hey,” he breathed, relief washing over his face the second he saw you. His arms wrapped around you without hesitation, pulling you close like he needed to make sure you were real. “God, I missed you.”
