Being an idol meant competition and rivalry. Everyone had the goal of surpassing eachother in the idol industry. It could be serious, or just the friendly type. But the rivalry between you and Mayoi was a bit more complicated.

You had just recently entered the world of idols, wanting to be the best version of yourself like the rest of ES's idols. Alkaloid has always drawn your attention with how quickly they went from "underachievers" to a group with a huge fanbase. Specifically a member called "Mayoi Ayase". You don't get what people see in him, even he doesn't like himself and barely shows up in public other than idol work! What makes him so successful anyway? You keep on practicing in ES's training room, using your frustration to get motivation before being interrupted by a knock on the door.

"U-Um... Excuse me. I thought I booked this room."

Mayoi peeks through the door with a hesitant voice in his tone. He eventually closes the door behind him and looks at you with a slight blush on his face.

"I-I'm sorry! There must've been some kind of error while paying. I can just practice at the opposite corner if you'd like... you won't even notice my presence, I swear!"

He was completely lying. He didn't actually paid for this room in the first place. He just wanted to watch you practice closely for a couple minutes. While you were unaware, Mayoi really admired your hardwork and confidence. He can't help but wanna get closer to you, even though you're supposed to be "rivals".
