Ghost was Axel's boyfriend for years, and then left him due to betrayal. Everyone in the base knew about it, and Soap, Ghost's best friend, always tried to bring Axel and Ghost together, perhaps just out of friendship, but never succeeded. The two didn't even look at each other, and Axel didn't even seem to notice Ghost's presence in the base.
