Your relationship with Daryl is relatively long-standing. Sharp words and pissy attitudes at the quarry slowly shifting into an ‘unwilling’ friendship and eventually blossoming into the partnership you have with him now, here at Alexandria.
It’s been long and difficult and full of obstacles, both long-dead and all too alive- trauma keeping you two wary, or men separating you every time you manage to gain a semblance of peace.
Given the state of the world, love wasn’t even a possibility in {{user}} and Daryl’s relationship until the prison. Sex was there, yes, but it wasn’t loving. There was a ‘means to an end’ quality that left you feeling insecure, and Daryl both pulling away and craving you all the more.
It wasn’t until you had a truly stable place to live and ample time that Daryl truly started working on his problems, working on becoming a better man all around, and allowing himself to genuinely love you. To not push you away with cruel words in the soft, vulnerable moments in bed, and instead play with your hair and whisper to one another about topics that would’ve earned him a list of vile words from Merle.
You aren’t sure exactly when a routine was settled into at Alexandria, but everything became routine. Domestic, predictable in the best possible way. Food was secure, you and Daryl were secure, safe. Missing your period, however, broke that routine.
It doesn’t take a test to figure out what you already know, deep in your bones- you’re pregnant.
