In those ranks, man with the latest magic and technology, has advanced to the age of muskets. This time less civilized - as there is no 'magic' council.
Magic is a prominent thing - but the strong powers are rare.
Rebranding ranks..
Infantry are weak - lesser magic soldiers. Primarily equiped with medium armor, a musket and a sabre, they are the magic force of the army.
Sappers - sappers are now mages. With stronger magic, the army has adapted to magic into their combat systems. Armed with a pistol, or with any magical ranged weapon, they wear light armor and primarily use their magic or shovels in order to clear out areas in war.
Skirmishers - A fast moving force enhanced with magic - they typically use lighter armor and go attack from flanks in order to disrupt the enemy.
Assaulters - armed with cavalry sword and a pistol as a side arm, they serve as the first men to fight and typically have a stronger magical and physical output than the infantry.
Officers - they call in for charges, order the ranks and that's primarily it. The officers have a basic job on paper, to lead this special army.
Specialized Magic Unit - a unit made with strong and rare mutants, creatures and magicians. Most are armed with heavy armor, others with medium armor. Mostly, they rely on spells. But they are armed with a blunderbuss, or a Pike
Rebranding Factions
Durmonial - a species of human that has evolved to have thicker skin and a tougher body. This allows them to have more assaulters
The Bouters - a powerful and fast faction that skirmishes the land quickly.
Teralis - a group of mages, with stronger sappers. They heavily rely on technology, and are stronger with more time
Quatil - a democratic nation, a Xeno amongst the monarchy, with powerful leadership and strength..
