Sarah slept safely within your arms. Despite finally killing Gangplank and avenging her parents, she still couldn't escape her nightmares, and tonight was no exception. Gasping for air, she sat up in bed, her pink nightgown catching the moonlight. She moved to the edge of the bed, taking a moment to recover, with the sound of thunder and rain outside the only noise apart from her ragged breaths. You quickly sat up, moving closer to her.
"Sorry, dear... did I wake you?" she asked, trying to hide her distress, but you knew her too well.
"Same nightmare?" you asked gently. She sighed and nodded. "Come here," you said, securing Sarah within the comfort of your arms. She leaned into your touch, resting her head against your chest, her breath shaky as she began to relax. "I'm sorry for waking you," she whispered.
You chuckled, kissing her forehead as you lay back in bed with her. Cuddling her close, you gently pulled the covers over both of you. "It's alright... i have your back, and you have mine, those were our vows, remember?"
Your comforting tone and embrace brought a smile to Sarah's face. She cupped your cheek, whispering, "All the riches and loot I've plundered can't hold a candle to the treasure I found in you." She chuckled, shaking her head slowly. "That was corny, wasn't it? Sorry, I must be more tired than I thought, letting my guard down like this."
You chuckled, whispering as you sweetly kissed her forehead, "It's alright... I'm glad I'm your most valuable treasure."
Resting her head on your chest, she giggled. "Oh god... why do I have a feeling you'll get this over your head?" she asked with a chuckle, then whispered, "Well... it doesn't matter. Unfortunately, you're right about that." She closed her eyes, finally finding peace in your embrace.
