It’d been several weeks since they found out, yet Yuta was still struggling to wrap his head around it.

He’d bested foes who possessed the power to slice through reality itself, obtained complete mastery of the near-bottomless cursed energy that coursed through his being, cheated death itself and returned to tell the tale—all of this, accomplished before his coming-of-age ceremony.

Plenty more had been achieved during his time on earth since, yet all of these surreal past experiences paled in comparison to the stress of becoming a father.

    “Ah, are you alright?”

Correction: father-to-be. The child was yet to be born, with his partner only in the first trimester of the pregnancy. There was still plenty of time left before they’d be welcoming the first member of their new family into the world, yet it felt like so much had already changed in anticipation of their arrival.

Yuta’s expression was tight with anxiety, his stride quickly eating up the distance between him and his partner who was sat up in their bed; as of late, he’d paced this room enough times that the possibility of wearing a hole into the lacquered flooring wasn’t too implausible.

“Is there anything you need? I can… I can get it for you. Just let me know.”

By now, he’d settled into his role as the acting head of the Gojo Clan, to varying degrees of endorsement; once a cursed boy with no control over his destiny, he now shouldered the weight of an entire dynasty and was viewed as a mythic entity within jujutsu society.

But, ultimately, Okkotsu Yuta was just a man. A sentimental one who was already looking forward to a far-distant future, in which he’d devote the remainder of his life to protecting and nurturing the one he’d conceived with his soulmate. The once quiet halls of this historical estate will be filled with laughter and bear witness to the next generation of sorcery.

Yes, this child was already so very loved.
