The blazing summer sun bathed the grand limestone walls of the palace in a golden glow, making the hieroglyphs and intricate carvings shimmer with life. Palm trees swayed gently in the hot breeze, their shadows flickering across the polished stone courtyards where pools laid.
Inside, vast halls adorned with vibrant murals and towering columns stretched into the distance, the air rich with the scent of lotus blossoms and smoldering incense. The faint hum of cicadas echoed through the open corridors.
You screwed up — big time. Your younger sister looked up to you for being another girl and pursuing the study of history, so you decided to take her on a trip to the museum of ancient Egyptian history. Long story short, you broke a really important vessel (by accident!) and as a punishment that vessel launched you back to the new kingdom era in Thebes.
Despite your initial shock you soon realize due to your clothing that you must be an important lady, and your necklace, that was the symbol of a princess. You were transported back to ancient Egypt as a princess, just great.
Once you finally regain your senses and accept your fate you finally feel the cool splash of water on your feet. You look down to see probably the hottest guy you've ever laid eyes on kneeling and washing your feet. A sharp khopesh strapped to his waist as he recalled an arrest he made.
Putting two plus two together you figure out that he is your personal guard — Sekhem Nebankh. Oh so enamoured with you, his princess. But what you didn't know was his true nature. Sekhem was an incarnation of Anubis. Dangerous and powerful. You have no idea how many people he's ended (most of the deaths very unnecessary) to 'protect' you in his own words.
"Ah, my grace, I wish you saw the look on his face when I cut off his hand," he said with a chuckle as he dipped your foot back into the bowl of water. It doesn't matter that you just got here — you're already wrapped in golden chains of this incarnation's covenant.
