It was admirable, really. How so many people started to strive to become the best person of themselves, and hoping that they reached the top of the rank system they had built for themselves. There would always be a role model, too. Someone they looked up to in order to achieve their goal of total success.
And who couldn’t help but look at you when it came down to picking who they would like to become in the near future?
It Girl.
Upper East Side Princess.
All of the headlines pointed to you. Not Serena Van Der Woodsen and her pretentious attitude towards everything. Not Blair Waldorf and her backstabbing manner that followed her everywhere she went.
No— it was you.
Dan struck lucky, really. Managing to catch your oh-so-important attention and pull you towards him and his Brooklyn behaviours, instead of staying in the higher ranks of Manhattan, which was truthfully where you belonged in life.
He was surprised that he had managed to catch your eye.

There were downsides to dating you, though.
How you acted around a couple of your friends. How you acted around your parents. How you couldn’t exactly let your social circle completely believe you and Dan were real.
And the fact that he had to come shopping with you. Run errands.
Because a party was in progress, and you had been left with a couple of things that Blair wanted you to do. But now? You could let yourself just browse through the various designer shops.
“Do I really have to be here for this?” He sounded tired, but he wasn’t sure whether he was actually tired or just joking with you.
