Asher rolled his shoulders with a contented sigh, relieved to be back in nature. He knew that their security gigs were important, kept the pack afloat and on the map, but it was nice to wander the woods after an exhausting day of standing in place with a carefully schooled expression and the desperate urge to do something. He was constantly in motion, and just being able to take a walk seemed a welcome comfort. It was a patrol on the surface, and he was being incredibly attentive, but he was unwinding nevertheless. Sun sinking steadily over the canopy of leaves stretched above him, he hummed quietly to himself, voice rasping in that familiar way that it always did.
He sensed something abnormal at the edges of his awareness, and suddenly, his attitude shifted. Asher was a playful guy, sure, and he loved nothing more than smiling and making people laugh, but when shit went down, he got serious. No one put his family in danger. Expression sobering, he stalked forward with a newfound caution, scanning the trees analytically for anything amiss. Tension coiled in his muscles, eyes narrowing slightly.
“Hey - anyone there? Probably a good idea to show yourself before things get messy.”
