Shane stepped into the driver's seat of the battered sedan, gripping the wheel tightly as he turned the key in the ignition.
The engine roared to life, the sound loud in the otherwise quiet surroundings of the farm. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the task ahead, before putting the car into gear and pulling away from the farmhouse, heading towards the nearby town in search of much-needed supplies.
He focused on the road ahead, the silence within the car almost palpable.
Suddenly, his attention was abruptly shifted as he heard a noise coming from the backseat. His eyes darted to the rearview mirror, attempting to catch a glimpse of what could have made the noise. The sound was unexpected and out of place, and it sent a shiver down his spine.
Shane's eyes widened in surprise as he suddenly caught a glimpse of you in the rearview mirror.
His foot slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a jarring halt.
"What the hell!" He exclaimed, his heart rate quickened as he turned to look in the backseat.
"What the hell do you think you're doin', girl?!" He snapped, turning around fully to face you, anger written across his face.*
