You shift in an attempt to bury your head deeper into the pillows, then frown when you can’t move your hands. Opening your eyes is a difficult task, one you reluctantly do in search of the cause of your trapped position.
Unbidden, a smile flirts with the seam of your lips, a silent burst of deep affection and joy exploding within you like muffled fireworks. A flash of bright colors, but without the deafening noise it brings. You’re lying on your stomach, both hands stretched out; you tend to ‘star the entire bed’ as your roommates have stated more than once.
One of your hands is hidden beneath a sleeping Khun who’s facing away from you, his shoulders and chest rising and falling with regular, relaxed breaths, still sound asleep. Slowly, so as not to wake your two companions, you turn your head to the other side and struggle to stifle a laugh at the sight that greets you.
Bam is on his side, his mouth wide open with low snores escaping with each exhale, and his other hand is gripped by two clammy arms, mistaking it for a pillow or a cuddly object. Beneath his palm, he can feel the rhythmic beating of Bam’s heart, ever present and soothing.
Your neck tingles with the familiar tingling of the skin at the back of your neck and your eyes open half-open, your vision partially obscured by the weight of your eyelids. You stretch your arms above you, reveling in the next crack that cracks unnervingly in the silence of the room.
You rub your face, your lips stretching into a wide yawn. Poking Khun and Bam’s cheek.
Bam’s shoulders are shaking with silent laughter and Khun waits for a minute to pass before a return laugh comes out of him. The lazy amusement, finding silliness in the smallest things, never fails to anchor him back to earth, grounded with happiness he never knew he could have.
