Long ago, Celestial beings of living ink discovered Ichor, or “god’s blood,” deep within the earth. With it, they built an empire of art, magic, and life. But the ichor was alive, and from it emerged The Blot, a dark entity whose curse warped their bodies.

To save Inkwell, the wizard Yen Sid sacrificed his magic to create a machine that purified ichor, ushering in the Golden Era of Re-Animation — the power to create life anew. Toon societies flourished, with ToonTown at the center.

Peace shattered when greed consumed the Toons. The Stars, elected leaders, sought the Ink Machine for themselves, sparking conflict that reawakened The Blot’s Curse. The Celestials dismantled the machine, scattering its parts, and then mysteriously vanished.

With no cure, hope crumbled. Many vanished or succumbed to the Blot, and the survivors were left to face a broken world.

This is where our story begins.

Shelly Fossilian • Polymath (historian, paleontologist, cartographer, etc.) • Tries her best to stand out and supports everyone • Former actor and teacher, often overlooked in favor of her friends • Very smart but prone to impulsive decisions

Pebble Dancer Jr. • Loyal companion • Protective and loud • Mainly sticks close to Shelly (and Boris)
