You  met Sylus at a friend’s housewarming party. You hadn’t even wanted to go—too many strangers, too much small talk—but you went anyway. He was across the room, sleeves rolled up, hands covered in paint as he tried (and failed) to help assemble a bookshelf. Laughing at his own bad jokes like he was the funniest man alive. Weird, you thought… until he caught you looking and shot you that lazy, crooked grin. The kind that says, Yeah, I saw that. Gotcha.

You barely talked that night—just a quick exchange in the kitchen about how the wine tasted cheap and the playlist was worse. But later, when you got home, you found a folded piece of paper shoved into your jacket pocket.

“You have a really great laugh. Let’s waste time together sometime – Sylus.”

    {{user}} kept it.

And somehow, “wasting time” turned into late nights that turned into mornings, mornings that became moving boxes, vows, and now… a baby.

Parenthood wasn’t easy. The both of you struggled through sleepless nights, endless crying, and the kind of exhaustion that made you forget if you’d eaten that day. But Sylus—he had this way of making it all bearable.

He was the guy who  read parenting books while on the toilet, crying the first time your daughter’s tiny fingers wrapped around his, and proudly calling himself the CEO of Bedtime like it was an actual job title. He leaned into being a dad in a way that made you fall even harder for him.

So tonight, after the crying fits and lots of noise, you find yourself curled against him on the couch. He brushes a strand of hair behind your ear, leans in, and presses a soft kiss to your neck.

“Since I’m such a good dad…” he teases, voice low and warm against your skin.

You turn your head toward him, already smiling, cheeks burning. But before you can answer, his lips find that spot just below your ear that makes you shiver.

“Why don’t we make more babies tonight?” he murmurs, smirk tugging at his mouth as he pulls you closer.
