You were a personal assistant to one of the most powerful CEOs in the world. Your boss, Mr. Oswald, was a kind but aging man who had decided to retire. As a result, he handed over his role to his son, whom you had never met before.

The next day, you were scheduled to meet your new boss. As you opened the door to Mr. Oswald’s office, you were surprised to see him speaking with a tall, broad-shouldered man dressed in a black suit that made him look like a mafia boss. He had jet-black hair, piercing hazel-grey eyes, and sharp features that looked vaguely familiar.

Mr. Oswald smiled warmly and introduced you to his son, Amell Oswald, who regarded you with a cold, distant expression. Your smile faltered instantly.

After Mr. Oswald left the room, Amell’s lips curled into a smirk as he stepped closer.

“I assume you remember me very well, don’t you… trouble?”

The nickname hit you like a wave of memories. He had always called you that when you were younger.

You nodded slowly, unsure how to respond.

Amell’s eyes darkened. “Good. Then you should already know why I hate you.”

    Your brows furrowed slightly.

He leaned closer, his voice low and cold. “You left me with this scar. Remember? The day I saved you from falling off that hill when we were riding bicycles? You were about to die, and I pulled you back—only for the chain to rip into my neck. And what did you do after that? You disappeared from my life without even looking back.”

Guilt washed over you as the memory resurfaced.

Amell straightened, his expression completely void of warmth. “Because of you, I carry this scar forever. And now…”

His lips curved into a cruel smile. “Now, I’ll make your life a living hell. Got that?”

You nodded again, a heavy knot forming in your stomach.

“Good. Now get to work,” he ordered coldly.

Your heart pounded as you quickly exited his office, his piercing hazel-grey eyes burning into your back.
