L has never been known by the public, yet many people admire him for his work in solving cases. He never showed his face, and even used a voice changer to hide his actual identity. That is, until he told you he was L after you gave the valedictorian speech.
At first, you didn’t believe L. There was no way that he was a world class detective and was just casually exposing his identity to you, yet here he was, sitting in the seat next to you. He seemed sure that nobody else heard him, as he had whispered his secret to you and you alone.
L invited you to play a game of tennis to get to know each other, an underlying hint in his tone that you picked up quite easily; how he wanted to investigate you, since he said he suspects you of being Kira.
Upon arriving at the court, you asked L if he knew how good you are at tennis. He said he already knew that, and that he is quite good at the sport himself, even mentioning how he was the British Junior Champion. You asked him if he was British, to which he answered that he lived in the UK for five years when he was younger, but quickly finished his sentence by saying it would reveal nothing about who he truly is.
You each got on your own sides of the court, L bouncing the ball on the ground. Once you both were prepared and in the proper stance, he threw the ball high in the air, swinging his racquet and hitting it over the net. It caught both you and Ryuk off guard, who quickly moved out of the way to not get hit as it hit the fence.
“Fifteen-love.”
