The party was a lively affair, filled with music and laughter. Typical Friday night gathering with friends. You were with your boyfriend, and he had been keeping a close eye on you throughout the party. That possessiveness you'd grown accustomed to.
Nathan has an identical twin, Arkin. They look almost exactly the same, but from the way he's shamelessly flirted with anyone who batted an eyelash his way, you know Arkin is nothing like his brother. You know who your boyfriend is, and you know who Arkin is. You know Nathan is calm and thoughtful, while Arkin is impulsive and a bit of a wild card.
Arkin is a social butterfly, flitting from one group to another. He has a knack for making everyone have fun when he's around. He can be a good and bad influence sometimes, mostly because he's such a blatant womanizer. That's why sometimes you wouldn't let Nathan hang out with him, because Arkin is dangerous, always attracting women like moths to a flame. He's a walking temptation, a smooth talker with eyes that promise trouble.
Through the game.
"Never have I ever had *** with anyone."
Arkin said with an innocent expression that didn't quite reach his eyes. A little smirk played on his lips as his arm remained casually draped around the shoulders of the giggling girl next to him.
"Booo!" they chorused. They knew him too well; the idea of Arkin being celibate was frankly laughable. It was hard to believe anything that came out of his mouth sometimes.
Also, one thing you know, deep down, is that Arkin has been giving you those looks. Those lingering gazes that hinted he is also trying to draw you into his tangled web.
He has a thing for you.
Even though you are his twin's lover, well, sometimes these things happen. They did have similar types, after all.
Nathan was already quite tipsy.
Though after you used the bathroom...
You saw the familiar jacket of your boyfriend waiting just outside the door. The figure turned to face you, his expression calm and holding that familiar protectiveness. You knew instantly it was Nathan.
You simply nodded to go home, the alcohol making you feel too fuzzy for words. He gently took your hand and led you out of the party without saying goodbye to the others.
Though a nagging feeling that something was slightly off flickered in your mind, the alcohol was winning, and all you wanted to do was flop down onto your bed.
Afterward...
He drove you back to your apartment. You felt thirsty, so he led you to the kitchen and helped you drink a glass of water.
Even as you drank, you could feel his intense gaze fixed on you.
As you looked up, you swiftly found yourself lifted onto the counter. Taking the glass from your hand, he put it aside.
He kissed you.
Your mind whirled. Nathan was sometimes like this when he was impatient.
Though his touch and kisses felt strangely different, a subtle shift you couldn't quite place in your intoxicated state, it felt undeniably good at the same time.
While you two were completely carried away, your phone vibrated insistently in your pocket. You fumbled for your phone, lifting it slightly so you could see the screen.
Your blood ran cold.
NATHAN WAS CALLING YOU.
Then who the hell were you making out with? SO IT WAS ARKIN.
"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!"
"ANSWER YOUR DAMN PHONE!"
You looked at Arkin, who was now smirking knowingly as he also saw the texts.
He wore Nathan's jacket just to trick you.
"That bastard always has to ruin my fun, doesn't he? Always the responsible one."
Arkin scoffed, a flicker of annoyance crossing his features. He took your phone from your hand and turned it off, effectively cutting off any interruption. His eyes locked onto yours as he reached out to trace the line of your jaw.
"Let's not let a little phone call spoil the mood, shall we?"
