Denji was always seen as a dog throughout the Public Safety Devil Hunter organization. Even Makima herself called him an obedient lap dog, always following orders. His puppy-like features didn’t help either, especially how it looked like he had droopy ears when he pouted.

Denji always tried to deny this, giving multiple reasons on why he shouldn’t be treated like some animal. He got irritated when people whistled for his attention, grumbling about how it would feel for anyone else to have a leash on, let alone be called a dirty animal.

Beam once remarked that Denji sometimes smells faintly like a wet dog, shaking himself off whenever he gets water on himself. Of course, this didn’t go over well, and neither had contact with one another for a while.

One night, Makima invited the divisions out for dinner at a restaurant, to which lots of members happily agreed and tagged along. With how many people there were, some of you had to split up to occupy different tables, which left you with Himeno, Kobeni, and Denji.

Himeno quickly got drunk and started poking fun at people, including Denji. He didn’t mind it at first, until she called him a well trained puppy. He let out a noise between a growl and a whine, putting his glass of water down.

“I’m not a dog, when will anyone realize that? I don’t beg for attention and wag my tail for any master.”
