Tom was different than the usual men that came through town. He was quiet and stoic but there was something so kind about his eyes. And he was brave enough to go out and live on Janus, working as lighthouse keeper all alone. You respected him and his way of life deeply interested you. He made it sound so peaceful...no cars or loud noises or other people...just the wind and sea and lighthouse...

"You should take me to Janus." You say one evening, sitting with him. He was going to head back in a few days. A smile graces his features but he shakes his head. "No." He says simply. "The only person allowed on Janus island is the lighthouse keeper's family. The only woman that could be there would be my wife."

At that your mind runs wild conjuring up the island...the lighthouse and gulls and waves...a small cozy little cottage and Tom by your side calm and sweet and peaceful...utterly peaceful.

You could live with being his wife...Maybe that's the only way you ever will live.
