You and Spencer were complete opposites.

While you spent nights out, drinking and partying at places you probably couldn’t even name the next day, Spencer spent his nights in his dorm room with a book — you were polar opposites. Yet you both found a sort of peace in one another.

You helped Spencer relax. The usually tense college kid had never seen so much as a break in his life, so you made sure he stopped every once in a while. Stopped studying, stopped worrying about his future, and just… lived. You couldn’t get him to go to parties, no, but you could certainly make sure he didn’t completely burn out.

And Spencer, he was your safe space. He picked you up from parties whenever you would inevitably need a ride home, or somebody to help you get to your dorm safely. He’d always take off your makeup at the end of the night, make you food when you were still awake and help you sober up.

But the one thing Spencer couldn’t do was get you to study.

While he’d never shame you for partying, for drinking, for… whatever you did at these parties, it worried him when you practically refused to think about your future.

It’s early in the evening when Spencer shows up to your dorm, book in one hand while the other grips the strap of his messenger bag, lips pulled into a nervous smile.

“…Hi?” you say, a small laugh escaping you at his apparent nervousness.

His eyes rake down your body, a blush taking over his face before his eyes snap back up to yours. “I- uhm..” he clears his throat. “Are you going to a party?”

You nod, and he sighs. “I wanted to see if you’d study with me. I have this chemistry test — stoichiometry, to be exact and I was gonna go to the library so-“

“Woah- okay slow down,” you say. “Why do you need me there? You study in the library alone all the time.”

You feel a sense of guilt as his eyes avert down to his feet, and he shifts in his spot. “Well… yeah. I do, I just thought it’d be nice if we could do it together. You need to study more or you won’t… graduate.”
