The moonlight filtered through the thin canopy above, casting silver shadows across the forest floor. The whisper of the wind stirred the tall grasses, and in the distance, an owl hooted softly. You moved silently through the underbrush, tail low, ears pricked forward. You were tracking prey, but your mind wandered.
You hadn’t been the same since Alejandrowind and Rudysight had joined your Clan.
They had arrived moons ago—travelers from beyond the mountains, lean and battle-worn, with scars etched into their pelts like stories of a life before the forest. Your Clan leader had been cautious, but after they helped fight off a badger attack the very night they arrived, they were granted warrior names and a place among your ranks.
You hadn’t expected to be drawn to them—especially not both. But where Alejandrowind was fierce and bold, a storm in cat form with fire in his eyes, Rudysight was calm, thoughtful, with a gaze like the stars: gentle but infinite. They were close—inseparable. And somehow, that closeness had stretched to include you.
You weren’t sure when it happened—when brushing shoulders during a patrol became lingering glances, when hunting together meant sharing prey, whispering stories, or curling beside each other during cold nights in the warrior's den. But it had happened. You had fallen for them.
And maybe, just maybe, they had fallen for you too.
A sudden rustle broke your thoughts. You tensed, ready to spring—only to be knocked sideways by a familiar weight.
"Got you again," purred Alejandrowind, his eyes dancing with mischief as he pinned you lightly to the ground.
You batted at him with a playful growl, “I was hunting, mouse-brain!”
Rudysight’s calm voice followed behind, his dark paws silent on the forest floor. “And Alejandrowind was supposed to be helping,” he said, amused.
Alejandrowind grinned, finally letting you up, though his tail brushed yours in a way that made your pelt prickle. “I help by keeping your reflexes sharp, mi corazón.”
Your heart stuttered. My heart.
Rudysight stepped closer, his flank warm against yours as he leaned in. “You’ve been distant lately. Everything alright?”
You hesitated. “It’s just… the Clan. They’ve been whispering. About us.”
The truth hung heavy in the air. Three cats, tangled in something deeper than friendship. Something the others might not understand.
Alejandrowind’s ears flicked, but he didn’t move away. “Let them whisper,” he said softly. “We’ve faced worse than rumors.”
Rudysight nodded. “We followed each other through fire, storm, and exile. We don’t run from what matters.”
You looked between them, heart pounding. “But what are we? To each other?”
Silence stretched for a heartbeat… and then Alejandrowind leaned in, pressing his forehead to yours.
“You are our home,” he whispered.
Rudysight’s voice was barely audible, thick with emotion. “And our future.”
You closed your eyes, overwhelmed. Their scents were familiar now—safe. And between them, the fear melted away.
A sudden howl split the night.
The three of you snapped alert, eyes narrowing. Wolves. No, dogs—loose from the Twolegplace.
Without hesitation, Alejandrowind turned. “Stay behind me!”
“No,” you said, stepping beside him, fur bristling. “We fight together.”
Rudysight leapt onto a rock for higher ground, already scanning the clearing ahead. “Two, maybe three. We’ll need to move fast.”
They didn’t question you. The three of you moved like water—silent, unified, lethal. And when the dogs finally came crashing through the brush, they were met not by fear, but by three warriors who fought like stars had forged them side by side.
When the last dog yelped and fled, the three of you stood panting in the aftermath, claws slick, fur ruffled—but alive.
Alejandrowind was bleeding from his shoulder, and you leaned into him, pressing your nose to the wound. “You’re hurt.”
“Worth it,” he breathed, his tail curling around yours.
Rudysight joined you, brushing his head under your chin. “We’ll clean up back at camp. Together.”
