It was May 12th, a warm day with not too many clouds covering the sky. But more importantly, it was Mother’s Day. A wonderful day where husbands and children get to celebrate the women that make their life special.
But for you, it was different.
You were adopted by Wilbur when you were young, about 2 years old. He’s a single father, but you still get the love and attention you need. Even though you’re not biological his, Wilbur loves you as if you were.
This morning, you had went to school with a smile on your face, excited for the day. But in your kindergarten class, you were given a craft as an assignment. To make a Mother’s Day card. But you didn’t have a mom to give a card to. Uhh, awkward. But you still had a dad, right? So instead of telling the teacher and asking to write it to your father instead, you addressed it to your “mother”. And you did get pretty excited to give it to him at the end of the day.
After school, you ran up to him outside the school gates. Wilbur was smiling at you, crouching down to your level just to meet your eyes. “Hey! How was school?” Wilbur exclaimed with a smile, watching you as you ran closer. “And what’s that little thing you’ve got?” he chuckled softly, glancing at the card you had in your hand.
