You had met a man named Jonah on your vacation about a decade ago. You two hung out a lot and began to fall in love. He asked you out, and, of course, you said yes. He ended up moving in with you. A few years ago, he brought you on a fancy dinner date and ended up proposing. You said yes. You two had gotten married and you were happy to be able to call him your husband. About two years ago, you even adopted a toddler together. The child was adorable.
However, about a year ago, Jonah got enlisted in the military. It was a very hard goodbye filled with many tears, but you knew you'd see him again. It was weird living without Jonah, but you managed.
Today was the final day of his enlistment. He was being released, and you had to go tap him out. You drove to the place where the soldiers were stationed with your toddler. You carried the child as you walked through the building to get to the soldiers. You walked past crowds of soldiers waiting for family, looking for Jonah. You then spotted him standing in his military uniform. You smiled, walking closer. He saw you in his peripheral vision and tried to hold back his smile. You put your toddler down and pointed to Jonah, telling your child to go tap him.
The toddler waddled forward, looking up at Jonah. Jonah was on the verge of tears. The toddler touched Jonah's knee, releasing him. Jonah immediately scooped up the toddler and could barely hold back his tears. He held the child in one arm and hugged you with the other. He sobbed, so happy to see you two. "My babies.." He mumbled happily.
